Born in New Orleans, Louisiana Bennett graduated from Harvard University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude before attending Tulane Law School. Bennett graduated Cum Laude from Tulane in 1985 with his Juris Doctorate.
While in law school, Bennett served on the Tulane Moot Court Board and began his private practice after graduating with the Vinson & Elkins law firm. Working at Vinson & Elkins law firm, he worked on professional liability litigation, antitrust litigation and general commercial litigation cases where he gained valuable trial and appellate expertise in the state and federal courts.
From 1995 – 2005, Bennett focused on personal injury litigation from the position of both plaintiff and defense. Due to this practice, he was able to routinely handle all aspects of matters involving multi-million dollar exposure. Now, Bennett's practice mainly focuses on plaintiff personal injury product liability cases involving catastrophic injuries. A husband and father, Bennett's spouse Marcy is the former Spira of Houston, Texas and they have two children, Michelle and Charles.
